PAINTING

•  Oils (Water mixable oils are okay*)  • Acrylics   •  Watercolors

These classes are designed to teach the techniques of painting with oils, acrylics, or watercolors. Oils are a traditional medium used by artists for centuries, and they are still a favorite today. Acrylics are economical, easy to use, and can be applied to many surfaces. Watercolors are a less expensive medium, generally more transparent and luminous, and like other media, can be rich and vibrant in color. We begin with acquainting students with the materials, letting them know what is essential and what is optional. Students will then be taught how to use the materials, how to apply paint to a canvas or other surface, and how to blend colors to portray light, shadow, line and space. After specific lessons on techniques, students will create their own works of art.

SCULPTURE

  • Mixed Media

  • Clay

  • Woods & Metals

  • Textile/Fiber

These classes are designed to bring out the creative side of any individual.  Sculpture is a limitless artform that allows the artist to express her imagination in 3D. During class, we will explore techniques and materials, culminating in a finished work of art students will be proud to display. Bring some of your own materials depending upon class; contact us for list and help.

DRAWING

Whether a novice or just wanting to improve your drawing skills, this class will help you learn about the art of drawing. We cover techniques, form and proportion, and perspective. We will utilize a number of materials and drawing instruments in the classes. Some classes may involve figure drawing with a live model.
